Keep Fish Wet on the Wet Fly Swing Podcast
We’re grateful for the opportunity to sit down with Dave from the Wet Fly Swing Podcast to share a bit more of the science around our best-practices. In the podcast, our executive director Sascha Clark Danylchuk discusses everything from the grass-roots origins of Keep Fish Wet to the impacts of water temperature on catch-and-release fishing.
As the science evolves, so does our messaging. The science shows that shifting from the familiar 68°F trout temperature rule to the idea of an angling threshold gives some of our favorite fish a better chance at recovery. We also dive into the three Keep Fish Wet principles: minimize air exposure, eliminate contact with dry surfaces, and reduce handling time. The conversation also covers nets, barbless hooks, fish photography, and why a fish can swim and usually does not need to be held in the current for extra revival.
